The Alpine Strawberry’s popularity stems from the fact that we all enjoy those sweet, juicy, old-fashioned little fruits. When immediately matched with a bright red colour, you may be surprised to find a pale, yellow–creamy white version. White strawberries were first discovered as a natural mutation in the wild woods east of Grenoble in the low Alps and then selected for their skin colour while retaining the sweet loveliness of the taste – somehow with tropical notes of guava and pineapple. White Soul is one of those improved varieties: whether eaten raw or cooked, they will always provide the same joy as their red cousin; try a white and red mix for a wow effect.
